In part one (1) of this article, we compare side-by-side static thrust and associated data for 11 different FPV quadcopter racing props (above). We asked FPV Racing UK to vote for the fastest FPV racing prop of the thrust test group in an online poll. Tellingly, only 2/11 of the FPV racing props from the data table attracted any votes (13 votes for the 5152 GF Flash prop and 7 votes for the 5046 DAL prop). A new poll was subsequently conducted, this time including additional FPV racing props suggested by the FPV Racing UK and FPV Life groups. During the polling process, it was noted that ‘high pitched tri-blades make for that locked in, on rails feel. The 5050s or 5149s’. It was also noted that prop choice depends on the track you’re flying ‘If it’s a tight twisty track then having bags of top end speed isn’t going to help you. Props with good low end grip or lighter props with faster motor acceleration will be better. A big open track with long straights – ok, maybe a bigger heavier prop with high pitch. All props fly differently not just in speed but also in cornering ability and overall agility. So you want to select the size, pitch and weight to match how you like your quad to fly and what sort of track you are flying on‘. Lastly it was noted ‘the 5046 is less amp hungry than the 5050 DAL cyclone’
